The Cherokee Nation Institutional Review Board (CN IRB) is responsible for protecting the rights and welfare of the human subjects of research conducted within the Cherokee Nation reservation boundaries. The CN IRB reviews all projects working with human subjects to determine if any projects qualify as research. The role of the CN IRB is to provide oversight for all research involving human subjects to ensure that subjects are treated ethically and that their rights and welfare are adequately protected.
All research projects involving humans as subjects must be approved by CN IRB prior to implementing studies, including recruitment and screening activities.
